Specialized Fuse Expert 29 Review

The all-new Specialized Fuse Expert 29 is a stellar hardtail mountain bike at a reasonable price. This sleek, silver, shredder features dialed geometry that delivers a stable ride and a sky-high fun factor. This newer iteration of the Fuse replaces our long-running Editor’s Choice Fuse Expert 6Fattie in the Specialized lineup. While we found the outgoing model was a little more compliant due to its 27.5+ tires and more flexible tubing on the seat stays, pretty much everything else about the new version is better. This slick-looking 29-inch wheeled hardtail rips downhills and inspires you to push the speed limit. Climbing abilities are respectable and uphill handling is relatively crisp. Specialized did a relatively good job outfitting this wallet-friendly bicycle. They nailed the ever-important tire, dropper post, and drivetrain specifications while running a budget-friendly RockShox Gold 35 fork that is sturdy and functional but a little less refined than some other options.
