The Marmot Spire is a very durable and weatherproof jacket. It is also cumbersome and stiff. For this reason, it was not our favorite hardshell for all mountain use. It is reasonable for in bounds skiing or snowshoeing in bad weather; however, it is very thick, making it less suitable for high output aerobic activities or lightweight mountaineering.
