Liv Pique SX 1 2018 Review

Liv’s 2018 Pique SX 1 is the most downhill focused version of the Pique lineup to date. This lively and quick bike gets a slacker head tube angle and longer travel fork than the 2017 model. The 140mm of fork travel and high-end rear shock pays off in plushness aboard the Pique SX. At slower speeds on rolling trails, the Pique is a blast, inviting even less experienced riders to get playful, tossing the bike around and popping off rocks. Killer climbing abilities with a massive gear range and comfortable cockpit keep us happy on the uphills. At the same time, the cockpit positioning and the vertical, sinking feel of the suspension action hold us back from aggressively attacking descents. The cockpit is comfortable but too upright to feel confident getting rowdy. This forces you to work hard to stay low and off the back on steeper descents. A SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, SRAM Guide RS brakes, RockShox Pike fork and Super Deluxe RCT rear shock compose the most aggressive and compelling build in the test, making this unique bike an intriguing option.
