The Arc’teryx Fission SL is the lightest insulated jacket in our test, while insulating as well as any other product. Only a few jackets are warmer, while two of the three shell jackets we tested are also heavier. For ski resort use, weight isn’t all that important. However, for traveling and for occasional backcountry use, the lightweight of the Fission SL will be appreciated. The warmth is acceptable, the weather protection is solid, and many will barely notice the lack of ski specific features.
