The Altra Lone Peak 4 offers a unique design that can tackle seriously tough terrain and drawn-out distances. Designed for ultra-running, Altra is known for its wide toe box that provides your feet the opportunity to splay out and wiggle free while on the move. We tested this shoe in conditions ranging from hot and sunny to wet and cold and treaded over terrain that brought us high on ridgelines to lowest parts of the valley floors. In all, the Altra Lone Peak is a seriously excellent shoe that provides all-around protection, comfort, and stability on the trail. It features a wide forefoot, thick cushioning, and a zero-drop profile. Our only caveats are the fit isn’t super specific, so it slides when going down steep slopes, and durability is questionable.
