The Super received the second highest overall score in our mountain bike helmet test. The only helmet to score higher was the Troy Lee A1, which is the Super’s closest competitor and received our Editors’ Choice Award. The A1 is 1.7 ounces lighter, slightly more durable, better ventilated, and considerably more comfortable than the Super. The Super took top scores in the features and adjustment categories, with its articulating visor, burly rear adjustment band, and included GoPro mount. The Super may have slightly more coverage than the A1, though the A1 has way more rear and side coverage than any traditional half-shell helmet. A lot of riders reading this review will be debating between these two great helmets. Both are great options and we don’t think you will be disappointed with either. Overall we recommend the A1, however if you predominantly wear goggles, need a GoPro mount, or would like to save a few dollars, the Super is the lid for you.
