Commencal Meta TR 29 Review

Commencal unveiled the all-new Meta TR 29 last summer and our interest was immediately piqued. We loved the 27.5-inch Meta TR 4.2 for its well-rounded attitude, relatively aggressive demeanor, and an attractive price point. We were quite excited to swing a leg over the wagon-wheeled version. The all-new 29er has entirely different frame geometry from its small-wheeled sibling but still features 130mm of rear wheel travel. This versatile bicycle performs well on all areas of the trail and makes sense for aggressive riders in a lot of locations. The TR 29 is certainly no featherweight, but climbing is solid thanks to a relatively steep seat tube angle and breezy climbing gear. Downhill performance is confident and this bicycle shreds harder than its 130mm of travel might suggest. This mid-travel ripper is an excellent option for the trail rider who doesn’t mind a bit of heft in the name of pushing a bit harder on the descent. Best of all, the $3699 price tag buys you a solid build kit featuring a RockShox Pike RC, Super Deluxe RCT, Eagle, and Spank wheels.
