The Gregory Compass 30 is a light, durable, and comfortable travel backpack with some design features that make it confusing and less intuitive for regular use. It is relatively small at only 30 liters of volume, making it a great carry-on for shorter trips. We loved the side-access laptop sleeve, but the main compartment was difficult to access. This did, however, make it a great lightweight bag for a warm day’s bike commute to work, carrying a tablet or small laptop, workout clothes, and a light layer for the cool evening ride home. We like it for a day at school or at the office, followed by a trip to the climbing gym, but it is not the best for extended travel, or anything beyond a simple weekend outing, visiting friends, or light hiking.
