Mountain Hardwear’s Splitter 40 is an excellent travel backpack for a rock climber or someone traveling with equipment or tools. It is not a tech-savvy backpack for use at the office or an airline optimized pack, but if you’re headed out on an extended rock climbing trip, this pack is an excellent companion. It is super durable, easy to pack with awkward, pokey items (like cams, carabiners, etc.), spacious, and has a collection of pockets and organizational features to keep you sorted at the crag or on a hike. We loved this pack on climbing road trips as well and found it to be thoughtfully detailed with a few fun surprise features.
