We try not to be biased, but we can’t help but get a little excited as the “big players” in the ski business get into backcountry gear. In almost all categories, the business and the gear have taken significant steps forward as the larger Research and Development teams get behind it. As the big guns bring their innovation power, the smaller players step it up too. The rising tide lifts all ships, as they say. That is definitely true with AT ski boots, and we feel like the Salomon Mtn exemplifies this. Ten years ago, the only AT ski boots on the market were from companies better known for bindings or rock climbing shoes. Now, ski business giant Salomon feels it is worth spending their time and resources on the backcountry business, and it shows. These are great boots, in a field of high-performing boots.
