Aggressive and well-rounded performance pairs with excellent value in the YT Capra AL Comp. Unfortunately, the ride is not perfect. This long-travel aluminum bicycle provides stellar climbing abilities given its slack, enduro-influenced, geometry. Downhill abilities are decent, especially on smooth and flowy terrain. When the going gets rough, the Capra provides a decisively harsh ride due to the ultra-progressive suspension design. Setting up the RockShox Monarch Plus RC3 rear shock is difficult as it is nearly impossible to balance the correct amount of sag with travel use. The Capra is a serviceable all-arounder, but downhill performance is jarring and rough for such an aggressive design. This bike is an eye-popping value as it sports a SRAM X1 drivetrain, RockShox Lyrik RC, SRAM Guide RS brakes and a DT Swiss wheelset for a mere $2,999.
